Robert Schumann Choir Competition 2018 features international participation

Registration is still possible

Int. Robert Schumann Choir Competition

The Robert Schumann Choir Competition 2018 will not only pay tribute the composer’s work and his contemporaries, but also will feature a special celebration of his birthday on June 8. Choirs from four different countries have already registered and will be part of the festival and competition.

Copenhagen Girls‘ Choir is traditionally one of Denmark’s best girls’ choirs: The choir has made numerous album releases and has toured all over the world in North America, Asia and Europe, always aiming to spread knowledge of Danish and Scandinavian music and choir sound.

Even three excellent choirs will make the whole way from the United States to Zwickau: University of New Hampshire Concert Touring Ensemble, iSing Silicon Valley Girlchoir, and the choir and chamber choir of Schreiner University in Texas.

The Children’s Choir Victoria from Russia has already been awarded internationally and looks back to a more than 35 year-old tradition.

Finally, also a choir from Germany will take part in the competition: Chorona Buseck e.V. became the winner of the hr4 choir competition in September. The main prize for the most popular choir – determined by a phone voting – was a trip to the Robert Schumann Choir Competition, donated by INTERKULTUR. Chorona Buseck e.V. is the lucky winner and will be a great representative of the hosting country.

All of these choirs will meet in person when coming to Zwickau for the Robert Schumann Choir Competition from June 6-10, 2018. Registration for interested choirs is still open until January 22, 2018.

Keep them coming for a fantastic choral celebration of Robert Schumann and his contemporaries!
