Jazz Workshop on the beautiful green island

Registrations for „Sing Free!“ with Jay Clayton are still welcome

Corfu International Festival & Choir Competition

During the 1st Corfu International Festival and Choir Competition, to be held from October 12-16, 2016 in Corfu the jury member and jazz singer Jay Clayton (USA) offers two workshops for choirs and individual singers. And the registrations for both workshop sessions are still welcome!

Jay Clayton is an internationally acclaimed vocalist, composer, and educator. Since 1963 she experiments in the field of jazz music. Beginning with jazz standards of New York’s music scene she quickly became a prominent part of the free jazz movement. Her highly personal and wordless expression is influenced by the new music and by the use of electronics.

The 1st session on Thursday, October 13 is addressed to all choirs of the festival and is free of charge. This workshop includes: Short presentation of Jay’s work, warm-up exercises, singing jazz and the jazz standards, tips on improvisation both over chord changes and singing free. Registration is open until September 5, 2016.
