Berlin choir competing with the world

Youth Chamber Choir Consortium Berlin competes with 30 international ensembles

Grand Prix of Nations

Do you keep an eye on your calendar? Yes, not only Christmas is right around the corner but also the Grand Prix of Nations in Berlin! In exactly two months INTERKULTUR and the Berlin Radio Choir will open the "Fest der ChorKulturen" with you. Affiliated to the festival is the Grand Prix featuring 31 participating choirs from 15 nations and the famous Radio Choir, which promises a variety of first class choral music on one of the most famous stages in Europe: the Chamber Music Hall of the Berliner Philharmonie.

One of the participants is the Young Consortium Berlin, a youth chamber choir, which has been diligently rehearsing since the summer of 2015. The choir is conducted by Vinzenz Weissenburger. Already in the first year of its existence, the choir performed in ten concerts in Berlin and the surrounding area. In this year’s fall the young singers that have partially collected experience at the prize-winning Children's Choir of the State Opera Berlin, started their first concert tour abroad, to Doha, Qatar. As part of a student exchange, the Young Consortium Berlin performed with the local ensemble Doha Youth Chorus.

At the Grand Prix of Nations Berlin 2017 the young singers will extend their experiences on an international level and will get a taste of first-class stage performances. Although they saved the long journey, they are on a competition stage along with top ensembles from all over the world and have to convince the international jury. So: Drop in and enjoy international choral music!
