Destination

The nearly 900 years of the history of Saxony`s fourth largest city are all about mining, reformation and important personalities like Robert Schumann, August Horch and Max Pechstein.
Experience all this in an impressive way at the museums of the city. Convents, art collections, the newly opened Max Pechstein Museum and the Schumann Haus cordially invite you to discover Zwickau via culture.
On the former site of the A. Horch & Cie. Motorwagenwerke AG you will get an insight into the great history of automobile manufacturing ranging from Horch to Audi, Auto Union and Trabant up to Volkswagen.
When taking a stroll through the extensively refurbished old town near the cathedral St. Marien you will find numerous restaurants, cafés and shops. And besides you trace the trails of Martin Luther and Robert Schumann. Both circular routes lead right through Zwickau and info panels at important places tell little anecdotes of the city`s history.
The concert hall Gewandhaus at the main market square will inspire theatre lovers. Here the Theater Plauen Zwickau offers a varied programme with drama performances, music theatre, ballet and concerts. The renowned puppet theatre is very much liked by children.
The nearby MuldeParadies located at the eponymous river invites you to relaxed walks, bike tours and fun at the sports- and playground at the green bank.
