The Mayerson Theatre in the School for Creative and Performing Arts will be used for non-competitive evaluation during the World Choir Games.
The School for Creative & Performing Arts
Opened in 2012, the new School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) at the Erich Kunzel Center for Arts and Education combines two existing Cincinnati Public Schools: Schiel Primary School for Arts Enrichment and the current SCPA. It is the first public K-12 arts school on the nation. The price tag of $72.7 million to build the school represents the largest public/private funding partnership of its kind the United States. The facility in the historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood was championed by the late Cincinnati Pops Maestro Erich Kunzel.
SCPA boasts three commercial-style theatres: Corbett Theater, Mayerson Theater and Black Box Theater. The Corbett Theater will be one of the competition venues and the Mayerson Theater will be used for non-competitive evaluation.
