World Rankings updated

U.S. replaces Latvia

The current world ranking list for choirs is online. The top 1000 of the choral world is now headed by the "University of Louisville Cardinal Singers" (Kent Hatteberg) from the USA and thus supersedes the longtime leader "Kamer" (Maris Sirmais) from Latvia.

He is followed by the "Guangdong Experimental Middle School Choir" (Mingjing Xie) from China and equal on points by the "Stellenbosch University Choir" (André van der Merwe) from South Africa.

The INTERKULTUR World Rankings (WRL) is the only of its kind and takes into account all results at INTERKULTUR competitions since 2000, the year of birth of the World Choir Games (WCG).

Not only the participants results of the WCG went to this updated version, of course, but also those of numerous international competitions around the globe, the World Choir Championships and the Grand Prix of Choral Music.

To continue to create a fair evaluation system for calculating the ranking, the system was revised in 2012 and adapted to all these types of events. In a total of seven separate lists, the performance level is reflected in by musical genre or type of choir.

More information you will find here.

The next international competition to offer new information and results to go into the world ranking list will be "Venezia in Musica" (April, 29 - May, 03, 2012) and of course the 7th World Choir Games later this year in July and others, like the 1st Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships from November 8 to 14, 2012 in Guangzhou, China.
