Cincinnati 2012

Interim report: 200 days left

301 choirs registered

This Saturday (1 p.m. local time) the start of the 7th World Choir Games (WCG) in Cincinnati USA is just 200 days away.

Only 200 days left until the streets in the city of Cincinnati fill with people and voices of many choirs. “Our hard work has already achieved great success,” says project manager Jelena Dannhauer and is looking forward to the next 200 days of preparation for the choirs and for the 7th World Choir Games 2012. The Organizing Committee in the city of Cincinnati (COC) and the International Organizing Committee from INTERKULTUR (IOC) are in close dialogue and are already planning the next joint business meetings on site in January 2012.

Both the official organization team in Cincinnati and in Germany are proud of the current status of registrations:

Already, 301 registrations from totally 43 countries including the United States and other countries all over the world have been received, of whom 171 are coming from the international choral world outside the USA, 130 choirs from 24 U.S. states have signed up so far. Also former Champions of the World Choir Games registered again, as Gradski zbor BRODOSPLIT (Croatia), KIVI Children's Choir (Lithuania) and Dekoor Close Harmony (Netherlands). A U.S. Champion has registered, too: Voices of Unity became Champions of the Gospel & Spiritual category at the 2010 World Choir Games.

“These are the best moments of preparation, when you finally collected all documents and submit them!” choirs report back to the organizer. “That’s how we feel, too,” says Dannhauer. She knows about many questions and assistance until a registration is complete. More registrations from all over the world are expected to be received by January 2012.
“We have learned that from the past. Around Christmas people take time to rest and to assort, also for the WCG,” Dannhauer explains with a laugh.

It’s the first time the 2012 World Choir Games is being held on the American continent. The Opening ceremony will be on July 4, 2012, the American National Day. Those who have not yet registered have almost 30 more days to submit all documents, as the registration deadline is January 15, 2012.
