The international jury is complete

10 jurors from 9 nations – that’s the jury for Calella 2016

Canta al mar - Festival Coral Internacional

The summer in Spain is far from over, that's why we have some hot news for you today: the international jury of the 5th Canta al mar – Festival Coral Internacional, to be held from October 19-23, 2016, is complete.

Ten international choral experts from nine different nations will travel to Calella/Catalonia in nine weeks and assess the performances of the participating choirs of the choral competition. In addition to some familiar faces like the Spanish colleagues Albert Deprius and Òscar Boada, we are pleased to welcome choral experts from amongst others Indonesia (Tommyanto Kandisaputra), Slovenia (Primož Kerštanj), Finland (Kari Turunen) and Germany (Peter Schmitt).

On this occasion we are glad to have won Mrs. Meng-Shien Peng from Chinese Taipei as juror. She is the choral director of the Müller Chamber Choir, which has successfully participated in INTERKULTUR events several times. Just a few weeks ago the Men’s Choir was crowned as Champion of the World Choir Games 2016 in Sochi, Russia.

Another jury member comes from this country, where  the 10th World Choir Games 2018 will take place in two years: South Africa. Bernard Krüger was the Artistic director of the Kearsney College, a prestigious High School for boys in South Africa, as well as choral director of the resident successful Kearsney College Choirs. Under his direction the choir achieved the Champions title in the Scenic Folklore category at the World Choir Games 2012 in Cincinnati. Today he is the Artistic Director of the Drakensberg Boys Choir.

The jury is complete and is looking forward to judge and to listen to your performances in Calella. Further information about the international jury can be found on the website of the International Choir Festival “Canta al mar”.
