British singers up to voice catching in Sweden

VOCES8 presents choral music workshop at Helsingborgs Körfestival

Helsingborgs Körfestival

Numerous competition categories, Evaluation Concerts, international top choirs, Individual Coachings as well as intercultural Friendship Concerts – Helsingborgs Körfestival leaves nothing to be desired by choral music lovers from all over the world. From May 9 - 13, 2018 the premiere of this Swedish international choral event will take place and also offers a special highlight in the field of pedagogical activities: Two workshops of the internationally successful ensemble VOCES8.

To inspire people by music – this is the aim of the British vocal ensemble VOCES8. In order to realize this aim, the eight singers share their passion for music with their audience during their extensive tours throughout Europe, America and Asia. One focus is on the diversity of their music pieces and the presentation of different musical genres. One heartfelt concern of all eight singers however is the musical education and further training of children and adults. Due to this reason, Paul Smith, founding member of VOCES8, developed a new method for the transfer of musical skills which is designed for interested persons of all ages.

On Saturday morning, May 12, 2018, a special children’s workshop starts: During this session, the participants will laugh, practice and sing together – and so the British singers prove that choral music is far from being boring but rocks! Suitable for all children who like to makemusic. By the way – did you know that musicians such as Usher, Justin Timberlake or Katy Perry sang in a church choir during their childhood …?

In the afternoon of the same day the VOCES8 workshop for adults will take place: Accompany the group during their vocal workout, which includes an introduction into the “VOCES8 Method”– based on the correspondent book, which has been translated into four languages so far – and gain an insight into the secrets of ensemble singing.
