Crossing the Bridges: Grand Concert of Children and Youth Choirs

How to conquer national, religious and emotional borders by the means of choral music

European Choir Games 2017

A never-to-be-forgotten performance of children’s and youth choirs named “Crossing the Bridges” aims to capture the audience of the Grand Prix of Nations & European Choir Games on July 20, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at the Arena Riga. This multi-media musical tells a story about the different worlds we live in and the bridges that unite us.

Children and Youth choirs from Estonia, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Indonesia, Russia, and Belarus will showcase the highlights of their choral cultures. Furthermore the Symphony Orchestra of Riga Music Schools, conducted by Kaspars Ādamsons, will perform Bruno Skulte’s Bolero and Valts Pūce’s composition Perpetum mobile.

Crossing the Bridges is not only the title of the concert but also of the music piece written by Uldis Marhilēvičs’(music) and Guntars Račs’ (lyrics) which premieres at this occasion.

“Above all are love and friendships between people and that’s what we want to express with this composition”, Uldis Marhilēvičs’describes the message of his composition.

The concert will be topped off by performances of Latvian solo artists such as the internationally famous singer and songwriter Aminata, the popular jazz and pop singer Daumants Kalniņš and DJ Monsta, one of the most experienced DJs in Latvia. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.
