Cincinnati 2012

And the certificate goes to…

Southern Gateway has been officially confirmed

The Southern Gateway Barbershop Chorus (SCG), the first registered choir for the World Choir Games (WCG) in Cincinnati, has received an official Qualification Certificate. Representatives of INTERKULTUR from Germany insisted on handing this confirmation to the choir during a stay in Ohio. This certificate qualifies the choir to participate in The Champions Competition of the 2012 World Choir Games.

Dave Beaudry, President of the choir, and conductor Joe Connelly received the certificate with great pleasure. The Mason High School Cincinnati was venue of the handover within the framework of a concert of the choir.

The SGC not only is the first ever registered choir for the 2012 World Choir Games, but also it is the first choir competing in a new competition category. For the first time the “Barbershop” category will be one of altogether 23 categories of the 7th World Choir Games. Another new category is “Show Choirs”.

In 2012 the world’s largest choir competition is taking place for the 7th time. In next year’s July (4 to 14) the choirs of the world will be singing for the first time in the United States, in Cincinnati in the state of Ohio.
