Talks in Calella
Event preparations make progress
A small seaside town is preparing. Calella, close to Barcelona and capital of Catalonia, is almost ready for choir singers who are invited to come to Canta al mar – Festival Coral Internacional (October 17 to 21, 2012).
The organizer, INTERKULTUR and its partners are sure about that. “My recent stay in Calella has again confirmed the impression of my previous trip – preparations make good progress and we have a great deal of interest”, says project manager Stefan Timmerberg after returning from business talks in Calella. “This is high praise for both us and our partners.” This positive situation meets with approval by Mayor Montserrat Candini i Puig and her deputy Xavier Arnijas i Tubert. They’re looking forward to the international atmosphere of “Canta al mar” in October 2012.
Choirs from most different nations registered already, almost four month before the official deadline for registrations ends!
Candini i Puig is already looking forward to the emotions during an international competition. She’s happy about an invitation to the World Choir Games in Cincinnati USA. Since 2000 this international INTERKULTUR competition has been held every two years in another city.
Canta al mar is a good alternative to other INTERKULTUR competitions in Europe. Choirs from all over the world gather and focus on joint singing on squares and in the streets of the city as well as experiencing the Catalonian atmosphere. Community and gathering will also be experienced by all participating choirs during a “Fiesta de la amistad – Paella y Sangria”.
Registration deadline is May 31, early bird conditions will be offered until March 15, 2012. Find more information on participation here.
The first of this year’s INTERKULTUR competitions is Concorso Corale Internazionale in Riva del Garda, Italy in April.
