Exchange with China

INTERKULTUR in Berlin

Choral music inspires China

On a visit in the Chinese Embassy in Germany INTERKULTUR President Günter Titsch met Ambassador H.E. Wu Hongbo.

Titsch took the opportunity of the conversation to indicate upcoming competitions in Cincinnati (World Choir Games) and in Guangzhou (Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships). Hongbo was delighted to hear that 83 choirs from his home country registered for the event in Cincinnati to act as singing ambassadors on the stages and to perform in front of the international jury.

“It’s not language that boosts an exchange between young people, but it’s the love for music”, said Hongbo in conversation with Titsch. 2012, the year of 40 years of friendship and diplomatic relations between Germany and China showed the ongoing importance of an exchange between the cultures. To achieve this with the help of singing and choral music was a good thought that deserved to be supported.

Since a couple of years INTERKULTUR, organizer of international choir competitions has been cultivating a friendship with China, the country of music. Choirs from China, Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei are continuously taking part in the INTERKULTUR competitions. In November 2012 the 1st Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships will be the third event with choirs from all over already to be held in a Chinese city.
