Xinghai Prize 2012

Diponegoro University Choir

Participation in Guangzhou

“Music unites everyone. I think it’s totally right”, wrote the choir director of Diponegoro University Choir from Indonesia to INTERKULTUR already in the past. In November 2012 the group is participating in the new competition series in the South Chinese city of Guangzhou, the host city of the 1st Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships.

INTERKULTUR, based in Pohlheim, Germany, is looking forward to welcome choirs from all around the world to this new competition series. During the festival there will be many Friendship concerts and Celebration concerts in addition to competition performances.

The Diponegoro University Choir consists of members of different departments from the Diponegoro University in Semarang, Indonesia. Within this scope, singers make new friends, collect ideas and share information, understand each other, hang around, have fun and do their favorite activity – singing!

Already the choir competed in another INTERKULTUR event last year and achieved an excellent result. In March 2011 it was winner of the “Mixed Choirs” and “Female Choirs” categories at the 1st Vietnam International Choir Festival and Competition 2011 in Hoi An and even won the Hoi An Choir Prize – a triple win and a big surprise for the choir.

The 1st Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships is divided into the Guangzhou International Open Competition (open for all choirs who’d like to get a taste of competition) and the Xinghai Prize International Choir Competition. This is the highly-ranked competition for the Xinghai Prize for choirs who have already international concert and competition experience.

Registration for the competition in November is still open until April 15, 2012. Please find more information on the event website.
