Sing in „heaven on earth“

International Choir Competition and Festival Bad Ischl in a stunning setting

Int. Choir Competition & Festival Bad Ischl

Austria’s former emperor Franz I had an extraordinary bond to Bad Ischl, as many significant events, which were of major importance for his family, took place right here. “Heaven on earth” was the nickname he gave his beloved city, which is located near the Höllengebirge (Hell Mountains), the popular mountains in the Salzkammergut region in Austria.

This breath-taking scenery was one of the reasons for the city’s fame during the Habsburg era, which lasts until today. And it is one of the magic elements which make the difference of this 14th International Choir Competition and Festival Bad Ischl compared to other choral events.

From May 2 - 6, 2018 choirs from all over the world are invited to make a trip with the cable car up to Bad Ischl’s local mountain Katrin and to take in the touching landscape which will inevitably leave its marks on their mind. The choral coming together with singers from all over the world will then call you back to earth and invite you to a variety of competition performances, Friendship Concerts, Gala Concerts and a choir parade through the historical city centre. And a frolic choir party at the last day will call all choristers together for a final celebration of choral music.

Ready to explore heaven and hell? Registration is still open until December 11! For more information check the official event website or the respective Facebook page.
