New Artistic Director for „Canta al mar“

Òscar Boada is the first Catalonian to assume the duty

Canta al mar - Festival Coral Internacional

“Canta al mar – Festival Coral Internacional” enters its sixth round already this year. From October 25-29, 2017 the cozy little town near Barcelona meets again choirs from all over and celebrates a colorful festival of choral music with plenty of singing and traditional Paella.

This year a new Artistic Director in Spain was appointed: Òscar Boada will assume the duty and act as Artistic Director for INTERKULTUR for the first time – after having acted as adjudicator at its event several times already. Licenciate from the Royal Schools of Music, Boada began his career as an accompanist and chamber music player. He worked with international prestige orchestras and some of the most important conductors of current times. He’s internationally acclaimed with his COR VIVALDI with whom he has already recorded 15 CDs.

Boada is a well-known face in Calella. Since 2013 he has been acting as adjudicator for the event every year. Being Spain’s representative in the World Choir Council he has been an avowing fan of INTERKULTUR events for years: “Participating in a choir competition is always a special motivation for constant improvement for any choir. If, in addition, there is the opportunity to attend an exchange of ideas, to find new ways of interacting with people from far away who are interested in the same type of art like us – being inspired – then we have everything!”

More about the 2017 edition of “Canta al mar” can be found on the official website. Early Bird Registration Deadline ends on March 20 – be quick to send your registration documents and make sure to grab great discounts!
