Founded in 1975, the Chamber Choir of the Pestalozzi Gymnasium, consisting of singers aged 14 to 18, looks back on a long and successful choral tradition. In spite of a constantly changing cast, as it’s usual for a school choir, the Chamber Choir was able to establish itself at various choir competitions. They obtained e.g. the 2nd prize at the 1994 German Choral Competition (Deutscher Chorwettbewerb) and the 1st prize at the 1996 International Mendelssohn Bartholdy Choir Competition. At the Grand Prix of Nations Berlin 2017 they will present their skills in the competition category "Youth Choirs".

For more than ten years this tradition has been successfully continued with the conductor Andrea Görgner. The choir’s repertoire has become very extensive and covers almost all epochs, with a special focus on new music. In recent years, many extraordinary projects have been realized, such as the annual Gärtnerplatz Open Air concert in collaboration with the orchestra of the State Theater, the performances of Carl Orff's "Carmina burana" 2012 and Mendelssohn's "Lobgesang" in 2015.

We share the Chamber Choir’s anticipation and enthusiasm and can’t wait to see the young singers in action.
