Shortly before the start of the Grand Prix of Nations Riga 2017 & 3rd European Choir Games to take place from July 16-23, 2017 the next destination for this high-level choral event has been unveiled: In two years’ time Gothenburg (Sweden) will be the host city and already invites choirs to join the Grand Prix of Nations Gothenburg 2019 & 4th European Choir Games from August 3-10, 2019.

The host country and city have been well chosen: With approximately 600 000 singers, choir singing is one of Sweden’s most popular movements – it is a nation of choristers! Gothenburg, the country’s second largest city, is a genuine music city where music is close to people’s hearts and culture and the arts take center stage.

INTERKULTUR President Günter Titsch: “The sound of Swedish choirs is famous all over the world. At our international choir competitions the singers from this country always achieve excellent results and regularly represent an incredibly high quality of choral singing. It is our great pleasure to give choirs from all over the world the opportunity to come to Gothenburg, learn more about Swedish choral culture and have a lasting exchange with some of the best choirs from Sweden and the entire world.”

As always at INTERKULTUR event the concept will once again give space for choirs of all ages, artistic levels and coming from all countries of the world. In numerous competition categories of the Open Competition, European Champions Competition and Grand Prix of Nations every single choir will find a perfect place that meets their individual demands.

Gothenburg is an open-minded and accessible city that will warmly welcome its international guests during the event. The reputation of Gothenburg residents throughout Sweden and also in the world is characterized by their outstanding friendliness and hospitality.

The city offers almost everything you expect of a cosmopolitan city – within walking distance.
