Celebrating its anniversary on the “Eurovision Choir of the Year” Stage

The Upper-Austrian Hard-Chor will represent Austria at the pan-European choir contest

European Choir Games 2017

Founded in spring 2007 by enthusiastic singers, the Austrian Hard-Chor decided to celebrate its 10th anniversary where it feels home most: On stage. The anniversary stage is all set and ready on July 22, 2017 when nine European choirs will compete in Riga for the title of the Eurovision Choir of the Year.

One of the original founding members of the ensemble was its current conductor Alexander Koller. He put the focus on combining traditional choral music with elements of modern and light music and worked out different composers and ages of music together with his group. This way the singers are able to be responsive to their audience’s expectations and desires – be it a cappella singing or making music with instrumental accompaniment, singing with microphones or without, or performing with 40 voices or concordantly.

In Riga the Hard-Chor will present an adaption of Anton Bruckner’s "Ave Maria", the folk song "I tua wos i wü" and John Muehleisen’s unusual composition "Rah".

Eurovision Choir of the Year is a new format in the Eurovision event family led by the Eurovision Song Contest. Its first edition will be held in Riga on July 22 and be broadcasted in nine European countries. More information at www.eurovisionchoir.tv.
