Opening in Hoi An
„O Fortuna“ by a thousand voices
In Vietnam the first competition of vocal music is starting. Today, March 16, participants will be coming on stage for the first time at the 1st Vietnam International Choir Festival and Competition.
Choirs that have been arriving on Tuesday – some of them attended Coaching Concerts already to get some tips for their performances – are starting today with rehearsals for the joint performance at the Opening Concert. The audience will have a very special sound experience when all choirs will be singing together “Oh Fortuna” from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. Another highlight will be a big choir parade through the city, a colorful spectacle before the evening’s concert on the big stage. The Opening Concert will be broadcasted live on the state television.
During the following days the singers will perform in six total categories in front of the judges. These are coming from China/Hongkong SAR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka and from the host country Vietnam. Apart from competition and festival Hoi An offers the evening of the “Full Moon Festival” to its guests.
On Saturday the Closing Event, the Prize Winners’ Concert of the best choirs and the big choir party will take place.
